Dear JSTF parent,

I'd like to give you a brief outline of the topics that your child is going to be learning about this half term.

The main area of study will be the Roman Empire and a variety of subjects will be covered within this topic work. Subjects including Geography (e.g Where Rome is on a map); History (e.g. Roman gladiators, timelines and when did the Romans control Britain? etc); Art (e.g. Roman mosaics); Design and Technology (designing and making Roman artefacts); Music (creating Roman music using different drum rhythms for soldiers to march to); Mathematics (e.g Roman numerals); Curriculum Cymreig (comparing Wales to Italy in terms of its culture, food etc) as well as various other activities which are related to Rome and the Roman Empire.

In Science we will be learning about the Human body including the names of bones and teeth; how our bodies move and grow and how we should stay healthy for our bodies to thrive.

In Literacy this term we shall continue doing Newstime on Mondays, comprehension and word sentence construction tasks, multi sensory spelling, introducing joined up handwriting and there will be weekly literacy homework tasks given out each Monday with spelling words to be learnt (to be given in each Friday please).
